We at UnieUnie LLC. (together with our affiliates, "UnieUnie", "we", "our" or "us") respect your privacy and are strongly committed to keeping secure any information we obtain from you or about you. This Privacy Policy applies to UnieUnie services (the “Platform”), which include UnieUnie apps, websites, software and related services (collectively, “Services”) accessed via any platform or device that link to this Privacy Policy.
1. Personal Data We Collect
We collect personal data relating to you ("Personal Data") as follows:
1.1 Personal Data You Provide
We collect Personal Data if you create an account to use our Services or communicate with us as follows:
Account Information: When you create an account with UnieUnie, we collect the Personal Data you provide us, including your legal name, nickname, email address, phone number, birth date, and education information. You may choose to share additional info with us for your profile, like your gender, personality, hobbies, and preferences, etc.
Identity Verification Documents and Photos: This includes government-issued identification, such as a driving licence, passport or ID card (which may contain identification photos and numbers, date of birth and gender), and user-submitted documents and photos, such as proof of acceptance/graduation, selfies and profile pictures.
Driver Information: If you apply to be a driver in connection with the Outing Service ("Driver"), we will collect the Personal Data you provide in your application, including your legal name, profile photo, driver’s license information (including gender), and vehicle information.
Purchase information: If you use our payment processing services, we will collect financial information from you (e.g., your bank account information, or other third-party payment information, such as Zelle, Venmo, Cash App, PayPal) as necessary to facilitate payments and information required for tax purposes (e.g., your taxpayer identification number). We also collect your transaction and purchase history on or through the Platform.
User Content: We collect Personal Data that you create with or upload to the Platform ("Content"), including comments, photographs, audio recordings, videos, text, hashtags, etc., depending on the features you use.
Contact Information: If you choose to find other users through your phone contacts, we will access and collect information such as names, phone numbers, and email addresses, and match that information against existing users of the Platform.
Communication Information: If you communicate with us, such as via email or our pages on social media sites, we may collect Personal Data like your name, contact information, and the contents of the messages you send (“Communication Information”).
Other Information You Provide: We collect other information that you may provide to us, such as when you participate in our events or surveys or provide us with information to establish your identity or age (collectively, “Other Information You Provide”).
1.2 Personal Data We Receive from Your Use of the Services
When you visit, use, or interact with the Services, we receive the following Personal Data about your visit, use, or interactions:
Location Information: We collect location information, which includes approximate and precise location through GPS and WiFi data, IP address, Bluetooth data, and any other location information you choose to share with us. Our processing of this information differs depending on your UnieUnie app settings, and device permissions: (i) We collect your device’s precise location when you open the UnieUnie app and use the "Outing" function, including while the app is running in the background from the time you request/offer a ride until it ends; (ii) We may collect your device’s precise location if you explicitly grant permission to enable certain products or features. For example, enabling the "Precise" features of "UnieVerse" function.
Device Information: We collect information about the device you use to access the Services, such as the name of the device, operating system, device identifiers, and advertising identifiers. Information collected may depend on the type of device you use and its settings.
Log Data: We collect information that your device automatically sends when you use our Services. Log data includes your IP address, the date and time of your request, and how you interact with our Services.
Cookies, Analytics, and Third-Party Technologies: We use cookies and similar technologies to operate and administer our Services, to make your experience safer, and improve your experience with us.
1.3 Personal Data from Other Sources
We may receive the Personal Data described in this Privacy Policy from other sources, such as:
Users signing up to the Platform using Google university account. We may receive the Personal Data including your username, legal name, and education information;
Users participating in our referral programs. For example, when a user refers another person, we receive the referred person’s data from that user;
UnieUnie account owners who request services for or on behalf of other users (such as friends or family members) or who enable other users to request or receive services through their business accounts (such as enterprise customers);
Users or others providing information in connection with claims or dispute;
Service providers who help us verify users' identity, background information, detect fraud and screen users in connection with sanctions, anti-money laundering or know-your-customer requirement, etc.;
Publicly available sources; - marketing partners and service providers;
Law enforcement officials, public health officials and other government authorities.
2. How We Use Personal Data
We use your Personal Data to:
Provide our Services;
Maintain the security and safety of the Platform and its users;
Provide customer support;
Improve the Platform;
Respond to legal proceedings and obligations; and
Provide marketing and advertising.
2.1 To Provide Our Services
We use Personal Data to provide, analyze and maintain our Services. These includes using data to:
Create/update accounts;
Enable transport, organize/participate in event, and other services/features, such as matching available Drivers to users requesting rideshare services ("Riders"), including based on personal data, such as location and proximity to other users, and user settings/preferences;
Allow Riders and Drivers to connect regarding their ride and to choose to share their location with others;
Process payment regarding the ride/event;
Support the social functions of the Platform, including to permit you and others to connect with each other, to suggest accounts to you and others, and for you and others to share, and otherwise interact with Content posted through the Platform;
Communicate with you, including to notify you about changes in our Services;Perform necessary operations to maintain our Services, including to troubleshoot software bugs and operational problems; and - enforce our Terms of Service, and other conditions and policies.
2.2 To Maintain the Security and Safety of the Platform and its Users
We use Personal Data to help maintain the safety, security and integrity of our Services and users. This includes:
Authenticate and verify users;
Using reported incidents, user ratings and other feedback to encourage safe use of the Platform and compliance with our terms and as grounds for deactivating users with low ratings; and
Block and remove unsafe or fraudulent users from the Platform.
2.3 To Provide Customer Support
We work hard to provide the best experience possible, including supporting you when you need it. To do this, we use your Personal Data (which may include chat logs) to investigate and assist in resolving questions or issues regarding the Platform, and provide support or respond to requests and issues.
To Improve the Platform. We are always working to improve the Platform and provide new and helpful features. To do this, we use your Personal Data to perform research, testing, and analysis; develop new products, features, partnerships, and service; and monitor and improve our operations and processes, including security practices, algorithms, and other modeling.
To Respond to Legal Proceedings and Obligations. Sometimes the law, government entities, or other regulatory bodies impose demands and obligations on us with respect to the services we seek to provide. In such a circumstance, we may use your Personal Data to respond to those demands or obligations.
To Market and Advertise. To grow the Platform and to share partner opportunities that are relevant to you, we use your Personal Data, including information we infer about you or receive from marketing parties, to provide UnieUnie and third party marketing, advertising, and promotions that may be personalized to you.
We may also aggregate or de-identify Personal Data so that it no longer identifies you and use this information for the purposes described above, such as to analyze the way our Services are being used, to improve and add features to them, and to conduct research. We will maintain and use de-identified information in de-identified form and not attempt to reidentify the information, unless required by law.
3. How We Disclose Personal Data
Some of our Services and features require that we share Personal Data with other users or at users' request or with their consent. We may also share such data with our partners, for legal reasons or in connection with claims or disputes.
3.1 Sharing Between UnieUnie Users
Rider information shared with Driver: As part of surfacing the ride request and enabling the ride, we share with the Driver the Rider’s pickup and destination, location, name, profile photo, level and information the Rider includes in their Rider profile (like education information, personality, etc.) as well as any additional stops the Rider inputs into the Platform. Once the ride is finished, we also eventually share the Rider’s rating and feedback with the Driver.
Driver information shared with Rider: We will share with the Rider the Driver's name, profile photo, real-time location, level, and the vehicle make, model, color, and license plate, as well as other information in the Driver’s profile.
Shared Ride Riders: When Riders use a shared ride, we share each Rider’s name and profile picture to ensure safety. Riders may also see each other’s pickup and drop-off locations as part of knowing the route while sharing the ride.
Shared Unies: We will share with your Unies with your location, track, voice message, event history, and ride history when you use the "UnieVerse" function.
3.2 At Users "Request or With Users" Consent
We may share your Personal Data for other purposes pursuant to your consent or at your direction. For example, we share your precise location with your Unies (friend) when you enable the “Precise“ feature.
3.3 With Service Providers and Business Partners
These include the third parties, or categories of third parties, listed below. Where a third party is identified, please see their linked privacy notices for information regarding their collection and use of personal data.
Enhanced background check, identity verification and risk solutions providers;
Payment processors and facilitators;
Google, in connection with the use of Google Maps in the Platform;
Uber/Lyft, in connection with the use of Outing features;
Social media companies, including [Instagram], in connection with our use of their tools in the Platform;
Cloud storage providers;
Service providers that provide us with artificial intelligence tools and services;
Accountants, consultants, lawyers and other professional service providers.
3.4 In Connection with Sale or Merger
We may disclose your Personal Data while negotiating or in relation to a change of corporate control such as a restructuring, merger, or sale of our assets.
3.5 For Legal Reasons
We may disclose any of the Personal Data We Collect to respond to subpoenas, court orders, legal process, law enforcement requests, legal claims, or government inquiries, and to protect and defend the rights, interests, safety, and security of the Platform, our affiliates, users, or the public. We may also share any of the Personal Data We Collect to enforce any terms applicable to the Platform, to exercise or defend any legal claims, and comply with any applicable law.
4. Your Choices and Right
Exercise Your Rights. You may submit a request to know, access, correct or delete the Personal Data we have collected form or about you to support@unieunie.com. You can also update your account information directly through your in-app settings, or delete your account also inside in-app settings.
Device permissions. Most mobile device platforms (iOS, Android, etc.) have defined certain types of device data that apps cannot access without the device owner’s permission, such as microphone, photo, etc., and these platforms have different methods for how that permission can be obtained. Users should check the available settings on their devices or check with their provider.
Push Notifications. You can opt out of receiving push notifications through your device settings. Please note that opting out of receiving push notifications may impact your use of the Platform (such as receiving a notification that your ride has arrived).
Marketing and advertising choice. You can always unsubscribe from our commercial or promotional text messages/emails by clicking unsubscribe in those messages. We will still send you transactional and relational text messages/emails about your use of the Platform. We do not “sell” Personal Data or “share” Personal Data for cross-contextual behavioral advertising, and we do not process Personal Data for “targeted advertising” purposes (as those terms are defined under state privacy laws). We also do not process sensitive Personal Data for the purposes of inferring characteristics about a consumer.
Verification. In order to protect your Personal Data from unauthorized access, change, or deletion, we may require you to verify your credentials before you can submit a request to know, correct, or delete Personal Data. If you do not have an account with us, or if we suspect fraudulent or malicious activity, we may ask you to provide additional Personal Data for verification. If we cannot verify your identity, we will not be able to honor your request.
Authorized Agents. You may be entitled, in accordance with applicable law, to submit a request through an authorized agent. To designate an authorized agent to exercise choices on your behalf, please provide evidence that you have given such agent power of attorney or that the agent otherwise has valid written authority to submit requests to exercise rights on your behalf. We will respond to your request consistent with applicable law and subject to proper verification. We will verify your request by asking you to send it from the email address associated with your account or to provide information necessary to verify your account.
5. Data Retention
We’ll retain your Personal Data for only as long as we need in order to provide our Services to you, or for other legitimate business purposes such as resolving disputes, safety and security reasons, or complying with our legal obligations.
How long we retain Personal Data will depend on a number of factors, such as:
• Our purpose for processing the data (such as whether we need to retain the data to provide our Services)
• The amount, nature, and sensitivity of the information
• The potential risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure
• Any legal requirements that we are subject to
6. Data Security
We take reasonable and appropriate measures designed to protect your Personal Data from loss, theft, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.
However, no data storage system or transmission of data over the Internet or any other public network can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. Therefore, you should take special care in deciding what information you provide to the Services. In addition, we are not responsible for circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures contained on the Service, or third-party services/websites.
7. Children
Our Services are not directed to, or intended for, children under 16. We do not knowingly collect Personal Data from children under 16.
If you have reason to believe that a child under 18 has provided Personal Data to the Platform through the Services, please email us at support@unieunie.com. We will investigate any notification and, if appropriate, delete the Personal Data from our systems.
Users under 18 must have permission from their parent or guardian to use our Services.
8. Changes to the Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will publish an updated version and effective date on this page, unless another type of notice is required by applicable law.
